Introduction To Truck-mounted Cranes

Jun 08, 2026

Truck-mounted cranes, also known as mobile cranes or self-propelled cranes, are a type of crane that integrates lifting and transportation functions. They are commonly used in stations, warehouses, docks, construction sites, and field rescue operations. For example, during the landslide emergency response on the Yuanmo Expressway in Yunnan Province in early July 2026, the Yuxi branch of Yunnan Transportation Investment Group deployed truck-mounted cranes for on-site emergency handling. They can be equipped with cargo boxes of different lengths and cranes of different tonnages. Water tankers can also be added to the cargo box to create a truck-mounted crane water truck.

Generally speaking, folding boom cranes are more expensive than straight boom cranes of the same tonnage. The advantages of truck-mounted cranes are their high mobility, rapid relocation, and ability to integrate lifting and transportation functions, improving resource utilization. Their price is usually lower than that of mobile cranes.
