A track mounted crane, also commonly referred to as a crawler crane, is a mobile crane that moves on a set of crawler tracks instead of rubber tires. This design provides exceptional stability, distributes the crane's immense weight over a larger ground area, and allows operation on soft, uneven, or challenging terrain where wheeled cranes would be unsuitable . Core Components & Operating Principle
Structure & Systems
Under carriage: Track frames, drive sprockets, idlers, track rollers, and track shoes. Powered by the engine through a drive train, providing forward/reverse movement and steering
Turntable / Slewing Ring: Mounted on the undercarriage, enabling 360° rotation of the upper structure
Upper Structure: Houses the operator's cab, power unit (engine), hoist winches, and control systems
