A 56m truck mounted aerial work platform is a heavy-duty aerial work vehicle that raises personnel and tools to a maximum working height of 56 metres. It combines a commercial truck chassis, a seven-section telescopic boom, hydraulic outriggers and a 400 kg rated work platform, so a two-person crew can reach high-rise facades, bridge decks and overhead structures without building scaffolding.
What a 56m working height is actually for

Working height, not outreach, is what decides whether a machine can take a contract. Anything below 45 m leaves a crew unable to reach the upper floors of a six-storey residential block, the deck of an overpass or the shell of a 20 m silo. A 56 m platform covers that whole band from a single set-up, which is why large rental fleets and municipal maintenance contractors buy this height rather than the 36 m or 45 m classes.
Typical buyers are equipment rental companies running mixed fleets, municipal road and lighting departments, bridge inspection teams and industrial plants doing scheduled shutdown work. If you are comparing this machine against a smaller unit, the working envelope matters more than the price difference: see the 45m truck mounted aerial work platform and the 36m model for the heights below it, and the full truck mounted aerial work platform range for the category.
ISUZU chassis and powertrain
The machine is built on an ISUZU commercial vehicle chassis with an ISUZU engine rated at 300 hp and certified to the China VI emission standard, one of the strictest in the world. Drive goes to the rear wheels through two front and eight rear tyres, with an air brake system for heavy loads and an electronic PTO that engages the hydraulic pump from the cab.
The single-row cab seats three and carries heating and air conditioning as standard. Wheelbase is 4350 plus 1370 mm, overall length 10600 mm, and the machine travels at up to 105 km/h between sites with a 20 degrees approach angle and 13 degrees departure angle. Chassis specification, outrigger layout and platform equipment can be tailored per order - see our ISUZU chassis aerial work platform build reference.
Boom, outreach and platform capacity
The boom is a seven-section polygonal telescopic boom design with synchronous extension, driven by a hydraulic cylinder and wire rope system with two luffing cylinders. It reaches 56 m of working height at a 3 m radius and 39 m at its full 34 m outreach. That pair of numbers is the machine's working envelope, and it is the first thing a serious buyer checks against the jobs he intends to take.
The work platform is rated at 400 kg and measures 3000 by 1200 by 900 mm, enough for two operators with tools and materials. Hydraulic automatic levelling keeps the platform level through the full 360 degrees slewing range, so the floor stays flat while the boom swings.
Outriggers and stability
Stability comes from three-section X-type hydraulic outriggers, each adjustable independently, giving a lateral span of 8250 mm and a longitudinal span of 8378 mm. Gross vehicle weight is 25000 kg. Independent adjustment matters on real sites: slopes, soft shoulders and uneven yard surfaces are normal, and being able to level the machine on a gradient is what keeps the 56 m envelope usable rather than theoretical.
Operation, control and safety
The machine runs on a CAN bus control system at 24 V, with both remote control and manual operation from the platform and ground. An automatic emergency operation system is fitted so the boom can be retracted and the platform lowered if the main control circuit fails. Outrigger extension, boom telescope, luffing, slewing and platform levelling are all hydraulically driven.
Built for Russian winter conditions
For a Moscow rental customer with more than 50 machines we have supplied 36 m and 45 m platforms on ISUZU chassis, each built to his own specification rather than our standard export configuration: full-body protective film over painted panels, a wax-based anti-corrosion coating on the underbody and chassis frame, and an enclosed operator cab with air conditioning, all aimed at winter road salt and low temperatures.
That customer has since repeat ordered taller machines at 45 m, 56 m and 60 m. The delivery report on this client, the 45m ISUZU GIGA build and the 36m handover describe the specification in detail. The same winter package is available on the 56 m model.

FAQ
Q1. What is the maximum working height of the 56m truck mounted aerial work platform?
The maximum working height is 56 metres. At that full height the machine works at a radius of 3 metres, so the platform sits almost directly above the outriggers. For lower work the boom extends further out, reaching 39 metres of height at its full 34 metre outreach. That height-to-radius relationship is what defines what the machine can actually reach on site.
Q2. What chassis and engine does the 56m aerial work platform use?
It is built on an ISUZU commercial vehicle chassis with an ISUZU engine rated at 300 hp and certified to the China VI emission standard. The cab seats three and has heating and air conditioning. Drive goes to the rear wheels through two front and eight rear tyres, with an air brake system and an electronic PTO that engages the hydraulic pump.
Q3. How much weight can the work platform carry?
The rated load of the work platform is 400 kg, enough for two operators plus tools and materials. The platform itself measures 3000 by 1200 by 900 mm, so it takes two workers with a spread of equipment. Hydraulic automatic levelling keeps the platform level through the full 360 degrees slewing range.
Q4. Can the 56m platform be customized for Russian winter conditions?
Yes. For a Moscow rental customer we have supplied full-body protective film over painted panels, a wax-based anti-corrosion coating on the underbody and chassis frame, and an enclosed operator cab with air conditioning, made specifically for winter road salt and low temperatures. The same package is available on the 56 m model.
Q5. Is EAC certification available for the 56m model?
Yes. The 56m model is covered by EAC certification for the Eurasian Economic Union. We supply the certificate number on request so you can verify it yourself in the Russian accreditation registry. Coverage is issued per model, so we confirm it against your exact configuration before order placement.
