Insulated platforms are typically constructed using insulated A-frame ladders, single-leg ladders, or insulated cargo beds. Workers can perform the work indirectly using insulated tools or directly using insulated gloves. The insulated platform serves as the primary insulation between the phase and ground.
Regardless of whether the method is indirect or direct, generally, before starting work on the phase being inspected, adjacent live conductors should be shielded or isolated using insulating shielding and isolation equipment. Simultaneously, workers should wear full sets of insulated protective gear. When working directly with insulated gloves, protective gloves resistant to abrasion or puncture should be worn over the rubber insulated gloves.
