A self-propelled telescopic boom lift drives itself around the work site under its own battery power, extends its boom sections in a straight line, and positions a work platform precisely where vertical and horizontal reach must be combined. On this page we use our HSJBZ23M-LI, the 23 m / 24 m working height model in the Jobanglift self-propelled series, as the reference machine for the class.
What "self-propelled" means on a telescopic boom lift
Self-propelled means the machine moves between work positions under its own power: 5.2 km/h in the stowed position, a controlled 0.6 km/h creep speed with the boom raised, and 45% (24°) gradeability to cross ramps and unfinished ground. One operator drives, slews, telescopes and works from the platform. No tow vehicle, no crane and no second machine are needed on site. That is the whole idea.
Lithium battery advantage for indoor and urban work
The reference model carries a 420 Ah / 51.2 V lithium battery with an on-board 48 V / 35 A charger, driving a 3.3 kW / 48 V DC walking motor and a 10 kW / 32 V AC oil pump motor. There is zero exhaust emission and very low noise during operation, so the machine can work inside production halls, warehouses, shopping centres and on occupied construction sites where diesel units are excluded. Our customers in food plants and city-centre refurbishment buy lithium for exactly that reason. A 12 V DC auxiliary power unit provides emergency lowering if main power fails.
Telescopic or articulated: choosing the right boom
A telescopic (straight) boom extends directly toward the work area and delivers the greatest horizontal outreach per metre of machine; on the 23 m model that means 16 500 mm of working range. An articulated boom trades some outreach for up-and-over capability around obstacles: if your work is above machinery, beams or roof structures, compare the articulating boom platform and articulated boom lift platform configurations, or review our extended boom lift overview for the 22 m class. For the full straight-boom line-up from 23 m to 34 m, see the 23m telescopic boom lift and 28m telescopic boom lift product pages.
Working envelope and dual platform capacity
The HSJBZ23M-LI reaches a 24 000 mm maximum working height and 22 150 mm platform height. The turntable rotates 360° continuously and the platform rotates ±90°, so operators keep the basket square to the structure at any slew angle. The dual load rating (300 kg unrestricted / 460 kg in the limited zone) is enforced automatically by the controller based on boom angle and radius, on a 2 440 × 900 mm platform.

FAQ
Q1: How is a self-propelled telescopic boom lift different from a truck-mounted boom lift?
A1: A self-propelled unit works one site: it drives itself between positions on battery power but does not travel on public roads. A truck-mounted platform, such as our 56m truck-mounted aerial work platform, rides on a commercial chassis and moves between sites at road speed. Choose by how many separate locations you serve per day.
Q2: Which working height should I choose: 23 m, 28 m or 34 m?
A2: Match working height plus outreach to the tallest and farthest work point: 24 000 mm height / 16 500 mm range on this model, up to 28 780 mm / 25 000 mm on the 28m telescopic boom lift, and 32 600 mm on the 34 m flagship. Oversizing costs transport weight and battery capacity, so size to the real envelope. Send us the building drawings and we will tell you which model fits.
Q3: Can a self-propelled telescopic boom lift be used indoors?
A3: Yes. The lithium drive produces no exhaust and very little noise, the tail swing is only 700 mm, and the machine is 2 430 mm wide. Check door widths, floor loading and ceiling obstructions on your route, as with all aerial work platform applications.
Q4: What maintenance does a lithium boom lift need?
A4: Compared with diesel units there is no engine servicing, no exhaust after-treatment and no fuel system. Daily pre-use checks, periodic structural and hydraulic inspection and battery care are the main items; our aerial work platform maintenance guide covers the routine. We give a 12-month machine warranty, lifetime maintenance support and 24/7 remote technical assistance.
Q5: What is the price and delivery time?
A5: Machines are configured per destination market, so pricing is quoted factory-direct: request a quote with your required working height, ground conditions and certification needs. EAC / CU-TR and quality-system documents are available on request for CIS markets.
